The Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre and Congregation Beth Israel invite you to join them for the community commemoration of Kristallnacht, marking the 85th anniversary of the state-sponsored “Night of Broken Glass” in 1938, taking place on Thursday November 9, 7pm at Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue.

Professor Emeritus of History at the University of British Columbia, Chris Friedrichs will contextualize the history of this evening. The keynote speaker for this year is Janus Mølller Jensen, Director of the Danish Jewish Museum. His talk titled, Courage to Act: October 1943, Denmark, will explore the narratives of the rescue of Danish Jews.

The program is free and everyone is welcome. There is no requirement to RSVP.

Presented by the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre in partnership with Congregation Beth Israel. This program is funded through the community’s generous contributions to the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver Annual Campaign and supported by the Robert and Marilyn Krell Endowment Fund of the VHEC.
