The Culture and Communication Team of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ottawa is looking for a staff member to join on a part time basis on a fixed-term 5-month contract from March 1, 2022 to July 31, 2022. Please apply by February 10, 2022.

The Culture and Communication Team of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ottawa is looking for an active, dynamic and creative staff member.

This is a part-time position limited to five months with 20 working hours per week. The job starts on March 1, 2022, and ends on July 31, 2022.

The position primarily involves the following responsibilities:

  • Monitoring of German and Canadian media, including daily press overview (topic-related).
  • Opportunity to create and monitor full social media strategies across platforms
  • Content and technical maintenance of the embassy website
  • External communication: handling citizen, interview, press release requests
  • Opportunity to assist in the conception, preparation and implementation of Embassy projects (e.g. concerts, readings, panel discussions), including purchase research, implementation and supervision of diverse purchases for the cultural and press sectors

We are looking for a staff member who:

  • Is interested in and understands (foreign) political trends and holds knowledge about Germany and Canada
  • Has a high school diploma
  • Has excellent English language skills as well as good knowledge of French; German language skills are an advantage.
  • Has good knowledge of the Canadian media landscape
  • Has very good knowledge of and experience with social media
  • Has good knowledge of IT applications
  • Is creative and committed as well as reliable, flexible, team player, mobile, sociable and able to work under pressure; has a quick perception, willingness and ability to work independently
  • Ideally has education and experience in an IT-technical or creative profession and ideally knows online platforms such as WordPress
  • Holds Canadian citizenship or valid residence and work permit for Canada
