About the German Language School Ottawa
Founded in 1971 by the German-speaking community, the German Language School Ottawa runs a playgroup for 3 year-olds, classes for elementary students (JK to Grade 8), credit level courses (Grades 9 to 12), as well as special classes to prepare students for German language diplomas.
As an additional service to its members and the German-speaking community, the school also offers German classes for adults (currently limited to the parents of students).
All classes are taught by experienced instructors who are dedicated to creating a vibrant learning community for their students.
The goal of its courses are to help children and teens acquire a solid foundation in the German language in terms of speaking, reading, writing, grammar, literature, geography, history and culture.
The school has a well equipped library that includes a variety of German books and DVDs.
Cultural programs running throughout the year offer students an opportunity to enhance and practice their language skills, as well as to enjoy a variety of fun activities while deepening their understanding of some of the key traditions celebrated in German-speaking countries.
