The Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen (ZfA; Central Office for Schools Abroad) des Bundesamts für Auswärtigen Angelegenheiten (Federal Department of Foreign Affairs) supports educational institutions promoting the German school system and language training abroad with over 100 employees in Germany and more than 50 specialist advisory services for German as a foreign language at locations around the world.

In Canada, the ZfA employs two school advisors, one in the east and one in the west.

In an article in the German newspaper “Der Albertaner”, Elke Rühl, the former language advisor for Canada East, gives an insight into the tasks and activities of a German language advisor in Canada.
