During the third annual Vancouver Opera Festival from April 27 to May 5 the performance of Gounod’s Faust will take place. The Opera by the French composer Charles Gounod is based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Faust, Part One. Faust, an aged and bitter man, sells his soul to Méphistophélès in return for youth and the love of Marguerite, an innocent young woman. By trying to have it all, he loses everything. Gounod’s melodic masterpiece will be presented in a production not seen before in Vancouver.
The performance will last approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes, including 2 intermissions. It will be sung in French with English subtitles.
