As the VSO’s 100th anniversary season draws to a close, Maestro Otto Tausk celebrates the VSO centenary in a concert that looks to the past, present, and future. The concert therefore starts with Schubert’s Rosamunde Overture, which was the very first piece performed by the VSO in January of 1919. Afterwards the North American première of renowned Dutch composer Michel van der Aa’s akin is performed by VSO Concertmaster Nicholas Wright and cellist Pieter Wispelwey. Last but not least you will enjoy Also sprach Zarathustra, a grand orchestral showpiece that shines a light on the talents of the incredible musicians of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
