Vegans avoid all foods of animal origin (meat, fish, eggs, dairy products and honey). A lot of vegans do not buy clothes of animal origin and only buy cosmetic products that have not been tested on animals and are free of animal ingredients.

Veganism is a philosophy and a way of life that seeks, as far as possible and practicable, to avoid all forms of exploitation and cruelty to animals for food, clothing and other purposes. Moreover, veganism promotes the development of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment.

In addition to ethical aspects, environmental reasons also play a role for many vegans. This is due to the environmental pollution caused by factory farming such as the enormous water and land consumption, the clearing of tropical forests, over-fertilization, manure and high greenhouse gas emissions resulting from animal agriculture. When considering the topics of climate change and climate protection, animal agriculture therefore plays a role that should not be underestimated.
