On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Consulate General of Germany in collaboration with the University of British Columbia shows the German drama Gundermann, which won multiple film awards! The movie plays during times of the GDR-dictatorship and describes the life, love and sufferings of the songwriter Gerhard Gundermann. Already in East Germany he plays in a band and did not give up his love for music even after the fall of the wall. After the fall of the wall he goes back on tour and touches people with lifelike lyrics. But gradually his Stasi past comes to light: Gundermann has worked as an informant, but he was spied on as well. His current world view is wavering.

The film will be introduced by Prof. Ervin Malakaj. After the movie refreshments and wine will be served, which gives the opportunity to reflect and discuss the movie in a comfortable atmosphere.
