The Department of Central, Eastern, and Northern European Studies at the University of British Columbia organizes a German Film Series running until 24^th of February, 2020. On November 18, 2019, the German movie Coming Out will be shown. The movie narrates the story of Philipp, a man who has spent much of his life hiding his feelings for men. In East Berlin, Philipp, now a young teacher, first begins a relationship with his colleague Tanja before an old friend of hers turns out to be Philipp’s childhood love. Through the chance reunion Philipp experiences a crisis and falls in love with another young man. Only slowly he manages to accept his sexual orientation. Introduced by Prof. Kyle Frackman.
