New cooperation: North Rhine-Westphalia and British Columbia sign declaration of intent

The Canadian province of British Columbia and the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia have agreed to cooperate more closely on a number of vital issues such as climate protection, emergency management, agriculture and forestry.
The Canadian province of British Columbia and the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia have agreed to cooperate more closely on a number of vital issues such as climate protection, emergency management, agriculture and forestry. The Premier of British Columbia, John Horgan, and the NRW Minister of Federal, European and International Affairs, Dr. Stephan Holthoff-Pförtner, signed a declaration of intent on Monday October 18, 2021 in British Columbia’s capital Victoria. Premier Horgan and Minister Holthoff-Pförtner underlined the vital relevance of the transatlantic cooperation.
Minister Holthoff-Pförtner: “This is an important milestone. The declaration of intent will further intensify the German-Canadian dialogue.”
The new founded cooperation with British Columbia is part of a comprehensive NRW strategy to further expand and continuously intensify relations at the subnational level.
