German Studies Canada: Innovate German Award Winner Announced

German Studies Canada, the association for people teaching and researching German Studies at Canada's universities and colleges, has announced the winner of this year's Innovate German Award. This DAAD-sponsored prize recognizes the development and implementation of new teaching and learning approaches in German Studies.

The 2022 winner of the Innovate German Award is Biz Nijdam, Assistant Professor of German Studies at the University of British Columbia. She was recognized for her German Fairy Tales course which incorporated Indigenous ways of knowing through its Syllabus.

We had the great pleasure of working with Dr. Nidjam in October 2020 as part of our virtual event series with German author Nora Krug and congratulate her most sincerely on this award!
