German lessons at the German language schools in our administrative district are now starting again. You can find a list of all German language schools in Canada on the Canadian Association of German Language Schools (CAGLS) website.
The Canadian Association of German Language Schools (CAGLS) was founded in 1978 and has since been actively supporting the German Language Schools in Canada.
As a national umbrella organization, the CAGLS represents the interests of currently 24 privately run German language schools in Canada - from Halifax to Victoria, some of whose traditions date back to the 19th century. Originally founded as “heritage schools” to cultivate the language and culture of German-speaking immigrants, these schools have long since developed into modern places of learning where children, young people and adults can learn German at all levels, even without prior knowledge.
Qualifications recognized in Germany, such as the German Language Diploma (DSD) from the Conference of Ministers of Education, can be obtained at many German language Schools.
The National CAGLS Professional Development Conference 2022 was held on August 27th and 28th in Edmonton (AB). The approximately 40 participants (headmasters and teachers) were offered a varied program of workshops on various didactic topics and were able to take many new ideas and impulses home with them.
