The University of Calgary International is pleased to invite you to Germany Day, an annual celebration of German culture and German-Canadian relations.

Germany Day 2022 will feature a lecture, authentic German food and complimentary refreshments, and a moderated discussion.

Commercial airline travel has underpinned international relationships over the past decades and made transatlantic cooperation more accessible than ever before. New to Calgary-based WestJet, CEO Dr. Alexis von Hoensbroech takes the helm at a key period of transition for the airline industry.

Following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and looking ahead to Net Zero goals, Dr. von Hoensbroech will speak about visions for the future of air travel in Canada and Europe. Von Hoensbroech is originally from Cologne, Germany, and holds a doctorate in physics from the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy in Bonn. Before joining WestJet in 2022, he was CEO and CFO of Austrian Airlines, and previously CCO of Lufthansa Cargo AG.
