Siemens Canada and the Saskatoon Industry Education Council (SIEC) have launched their joint 'Smartflower Microgrid' in Saskatoon. The project is a milestone for green technologies in Saskatchewan. Co-developed by Siemens Canada, the microgrid powers classrooms and provides real-time data on energy production and absorption. It will give students in the province a better understanding of green technology and the application of solar energy, data analysis and power grid management. The grid is the first microgrid for educational applications in Canada. More Smartflower microgrid installations across Canada are to follow.
