The Consulate General's Consular Section performs a range of consular and legal services, such as issuing German passports and providing assistance for German tourists.

The offices of the Honorary Consuls in Edmonton, Calgary and Saskatoon offer many of these services for residents of our jurisdiction.

The Consulate General maintains political relations with the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon and North-West Territories and reports to the Embassy in Ottawa and to the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.

In close cooperation with the Canadian German Chamber of Commerce in Vancouver the Economic Section promotes economic relations between Germany, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon and North-West Territories.

Foreign cultural policy is considered the third pillar of German foreign policy, along with classical diplomacy and the promotion of the export industry. Together with the Goethe-Institut in Toronto, the cultural section of the Consulate General supports and organizes German cultural projects and promotes German as a foreign language.
