From October 15 to 19 we welcomed the German “Spitzencluster” in Toronto. Clusters are business activity networks containing large and small companies and research institutions to foster innovation and economic growth. The nine representatives of the German clusters visited Toronto to attend the TCI Network Global Conference at the Chelsea Hotel where they could exchange ideas and make important business contacts in Canada. Consul General Thomas E. Schultze welcomed the delegation at the German Consulate together with Thomas Beck, Chief Executive Officer of the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad. In the following days the clusters had the chance to participate in various plenary sessions and to attend networking events on the occasion of the TCI Conference. On Thursday, October 18, we hosted a matchmaking breakfast with the German Spitzencluster and their Canadian counterparts, the “Supercluster”. Each representative presented his or her cluster in a friendly atmosphere over coffee and tea and had the chance to make new contacts for a future in which German and Canadian companies will work even more closely together.
