The Canada Media Fund (CMF), the Canadian Embassy in Berlin, the German Consulate in Toronto, the German Medienboard and CFC Media Lab – put together the Creative Digital Innovation Exchange.
New Technologies have transformed the manner of doing business across national borders and have expanded the opportunities for international cooperation. Companies need global partners to stay competitive in a global marketplace, which is especially true for cultural and media industries as it is for manufacturing. For this reason an international group – the Canada Media Fund (CMF), the Canadian Embassy in Berlin, the German Consulate in Toronto, the German Medienboard and CFC Media Lab – put together the Creative Digital Innovation Exchange, a series of workshops between 10 Canadian and nine German companies. It was designed to foster collaboration and cultural exchange between tech companies and content creators on both sides of the Atlantic and to develop new transatlantic projects. All 19 companies varied in size and scope, ranging from smaller studios like KlingKlangKlong and IDFABRIK, to more established content creators and distributors like Secret Location and Another World VR. Consul General, Thomas E. Schultze addressed the group and emphasized the importance of the digital media industry to mediate and to conquer global challenges such as increase of populism, climate change or a rapidly changing working environment.
