On Sunday, June 23rd, we joined our colleagues from the French, Finnish, Swedish, Dutch and Norwegian Consulates to celebrate Pride at the annual Pride Parade Toronto.
For the third time, a European delegation consisting of diplomats, employees, relatives, friends and other partners of our consulates in Toronto, walked down Yonge street amongst thousands of other marchers to stand up for LGBTQIA+ rights and to make a statement about the importance of fighting for human rights, even more this year commemorating 50 years of Stonewall riots.
And by doing so, we had a lot of fun! More than one million people came to watch and celebrate the colourful diversity of Toronto. The parade took place as part of the Pride Festival, which was originally planned every last week in June, till in 2016 Toronto declared the entire month of June as Pride Month.
Thank you to all, who joined and to those, who helped to make the event possible.
