We are thrilled to announce the much-anticipated return of Germany's Semer Ensemble to the heart of Toronto, presented by Ashkenaz.

Following their captivating performances in 2016 and 2017, the Semer Ensemble is set to once again grace our city with their exceptional music on October 5th. Prepare for a mesmerizing evening that will transport you to a bygone era while celebrating the enduring spirit of cultural heritage.

The Semer Ensemble boasts an all-star lineup of musical virtuosos, led by accordionist and pianist Alan Bern. Joining him are acclaimed vocalists Lorin Sklamberg, Daniel Kahn, Sasha Lurje, and Fabian Schnedler. The ensemble's instrumental section features Mark Kovnatskiy on violin and Martin Lillich on bass, rounding out this stellar assembly of talent.

The concert promises a multilingual musical journey, with songs sung in Yiddish, German, Russian, and Hebrew, all accompanied by English subtitles, making this an accessible and culturally rich experience for all.

This extraordinary evening is presented by Ashkenaz, in association with the Toronto Holocaust Museum, and has received generous support from the Federal Foreign Office of the Republic of Germany, Lufthansa, Toronto Workmen’s Circle Foundation, and UJA Committee For Yiddish.
