It’s an annual tradition, the Lantern Parade organized by the German International School Toronto. Kids bring their crafted lanterns and join in the songs to celebrate Saint Martin of Tours, who shared his coat with a homeless man on a cold winter night.
Saint Martin of Tours started out as a Roman soldier then was baptized as an adult and became a monk. It is understood that he was a kind man who led a quiet and simple life. The best known legend of his life is that he once cut his cloak in half to share with a beggar during a snowstorm, to save the beggar from dying from the cold.
Join us on Sunday, November 15th 6 to 8 pm at Dufferin Grove Park for our Annual Lantern Parade. Everybody is welcome and lanterns can be purchased on-site.
We look forward to welcoming you to this wonderful tradition.
