This was our third year volunteering with the “The Common Table” at the Church of the Redeemer in Toronto. In times of increasing inequality it is of central importance to strengthen the integrity of society and to support each other.
The drop-in program “The Common Table” at The Curch of the Redeemer in Toronto provides vital support and services to houseless persons and those who are facing health or economic challenges, and is a welcoming space for all. The German and French Consulates General welcome the opportunity to be part of this great program. Especially in times of increasing inequality it is of central importance to strengthen the integrity of society and to support each other. As in previous years, we prepared German and French dishes for the guests of the program: As entrée, we cooked a “deftige” German Pea Soup while our French Colleagues prepared a delicious dessert. Initiatives such as “The Common Table” lend a helping hand in difficult situations and are a crucial element to connect with each other.
