German Heritage Month

Since 2016, the German heritage in Canada is remembered by celebrating October as German Heritage Month. Marwan Tabbara, a Kitchener MP, presented the motion to the government to recognize the contributions that German-Canadians have made to Canadian Society.
Let's take this month as an opportunity to refresh some history lessons about German roots in Toronto like Berczy Park in downtown Toronto. It is named William Berczy, a German-born architect, surveyor, and writer often considered a co-founder of modern Toronto with John Graves Simcoe.
