The German Consulate General in Vancouver warmly invites the public to attend the virtual symposium “75 Years of Germany’s Basic Law – Success and Challenges” on October 10, 2024, at 1:00 pm (PDT) / 10:00 pm (CEST).

As Germany celebrates 75 years of its Constitution (the Grundgesetz, or “Basic Law”), this symposium will explore whether the constitution is equipped to face the growing challenges of our time. With democracy increasingly under threat – both internationally, from shifts in the global order, and nationally, from political groups aiming to destabilize the system – the discussion will focus on how to secure its future resilience.

Five renowned experts from distinguished universities in Germany and Canada will provide profound insights into the opportunities and challenges ahead.
