Deutsche Sprachschulen (Metro Toronto) Inc. (“DSS”) is a not-for-profit organisation that has been operating German Saturday schools (KG to Grade 12) since 1956.
Going with the times and being inspired by the colourful fall, we have re-launched our website www.dssgta.org to offer more up-to-date information about our three schools and the great community events happening around the year.
To welcome the new school year and sweeten our German language experience, our Richmond Hill and Toronto Central West schools have celebrated the traditional “Zuckertütenfest” (sugar cone festival) - parents crafted decorated cones and filled them with candy and school supplies as a gift to our newest students from kindergarten to grade 2.
Meanwhile, our Scarborough school is excited to be sending one student and their DSD II teacher off to San Francisco for the “Jugend Debattiert” North America finals in early November. This international German-language debate competition is hosted annually by the German Consulate and organised by the Fachberater of the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad. Last year, two of Scarborough‘s students travelled to Washington DC to compete against other German language learners from all over the USA and Canada and won third place!
