An award-winning 1996 “Coming of Age”- movie directed by Caroline Link on inklusion and finding onself.

The film centers around a young girl named Lara, who grows up in a family where both of her parents are deaf. Because of their deafness, the family communicates using sign language, and Lara, who is able to hear, grows up in a supportive, yet isolated world.

As Lara gets older, she develops a passion for music and begins to experience the world differently from her parents. She struggles with balancing her love for music and her loyalty to her family, especially as she starts to connect more with the hearing world. The film explores themes of communication, identity, family dynamics, and the challenges of bridging two different worlds — the deaf and the hearing.

The story captures Lara’s emotional journey as she grapples with her responsibilities, her personal desires, and her relationships with her parents, leading to a deeper understanding of herself and her family.

The movie will be shown in German with English subtitles. Suitable for children approx. 12 years and up.
