We’re thrilled to invite you to a special art book launch on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Goethe-Institut Toronto! This is your chance to dive deep into the fascinating history of the Berlin Wall through the eyes of two talented photographers, Vid Ingelevics and Blake Fitzpatrick.
Book Launch: Mobile Ruin: The Everyday Life of the Berlin Wall
📖 Featuring over 100 stunning photographs and thought-provoking essays, Mobile Ruin explores the global dispersal of Berlin Wall fragments and their transformation from a political symbol to scattered souvenirs. Ingelevics and Fitzpatrick trace this shift, revealing how these pieces of history have become both commodities and reminders of the past.
What to Expect:
Artist Conversation: Join Fitzpatrick & Ingelevics as they discuss the material history, public commemoration, border politics, and the unique role these fragments play in documentary studies.
Book Signing: Get your copy of Mobile Ruin signed by the artists themselves!
This event is part of the (re)OPEN MINDS: Adapting to the Future 2026 program, celebrating 75 Years of Germany-Canada Diplomatic Relations.
