Consular days (“Konsularsprechtage”)

The Consulates General in Montreal and Toronto will endeavor to offer you consular consultation days in Montreal. As soon as a new date is set, the Consulate General Montreal will announce it here on the website together with a booking option for appointments.

The next consular days will take place at the German Consulate General Montreal from May 27, 2026 until May 29, 2026. The service is only available for persons residing in the province of Québec.

Only following services will be provided during the consular week in Montreal:

Application for passport renewal, provided that:

- there are no changes to your name compared to your old passport (exception: You can provide a certificate of name change issued by a German Registrar’s Office).

AND

- your passport expires within the next 6 months or has not been expired for more than 5 years.

OR

- you need a new passport to renew a residence permit in Canada that is set to expire in the foreseeable future.


First-time application for a German passport, provided that

- you have recently been issued a certificate of naturalization.

OR

- you have recently been issued a certificate of acquisition of German citizenship by declaration.

OR

- you can present a German birth certificate.

OR

- you can present a certificate of name issued by a German Registrar’s Office.


Other consular services, such as birth registrations, name declarations, or signature certifications, cannot be provided.
