The German Consulate in Vancouver is pleased to host a scientist from Germany for the next three months: Dr. Eleanor Eife-Horn, Head of Administration at the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) of the Leibniz Association in Germany. Her visit represents an important step toward strengthening scientific diplomacy and exploring new collaboration opportunities between German and Canadian research institutes.
Throughout her stay, she will be “shadowing” the science department of the consulate, participating in key meetings with local research institutions, and identifying areas of mutual interest. One highlight is her engagement with the University of British Columbia’s Quantum Matter Institute (QMI), a renowned center for quantum research that has already established a fruitful, long-term collaboration with the Max Planck Institute in Germany and the University of Tokyo.
Her mission is to deepen existing ties and discover new avenues where German scientific institutes—such as those in the Leibniz Association—can collaborate with Canadian counterparts to address global challenges and drive innovation. Whether it’s quantum research, environmental science, or other cutting-edge fields, these international partnerships hold great promise for both countries.
Stay tuned as we continue to share insights from her journey, promoting the crucial role that science plays in building global connections and advancing research.
