Eltz Castle (German: Burg Eltz) is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle between Koblenz and Trier. The castle stands on a 70-metre-high (230 ft) rock spur that is bordered on three sides by the Elzbach River, a tributary on the north side of the Moselle. The surrounding Eltz Forest has been declared a nature reserve; parts of the castle can be visited in the summer months.

Hiking in the Bode Valley: through the Grand Canyon of the eastern Harz MountainsThe Bode Valley at the eastern foothills of the low mountain range is one of the most spectacular valleys in the Harz: rugged rock faces rise almost vertically up to 230 meters and push the Bode into a narrow river bed. In Treseburg (see photo) it becomes flatter and the valley slowly widens again, the Bode flows more calmly and offers opportunities for a refreshing swim in summer.
