We had the great pleasure of speaking with Prof. Dr. Iris Dillmann, a world-renowned scientist at TRIUMF, Canada's national particle accelerator center, on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which will be celebrated on February 11, 2025.
In this inspiring conversation, Prof. Dr. Dillmann shared a bit about her journey in science, discussed her experiences in a traditionally male-dominated field, and offered some advice for the next generation of women pursuing careers in STEM.

While progress has been made in recent years, women remain underrepresented in STEM fields worldwide. According to UNESCO, less than 30% of researchers globally are women, and only around 35% of all students enrolled in STEM-related fields of study are female. The gender gap is even more pronounced in areas like engineering and computer science.
Encouraging and supporting women and girls in science is not just a matter of of equal rights—it’s essential for innovation and addressing global challenges. Prof. Dr. Dillmann’s journey serves as an inspiring example of what is possible!
