Welcome
German at SFU – Keep the Connection Alive

Do you have children or grandchildren studying at Simon Fraser University? SFU offers wonderful German language courses open to all SFU students, no matter their field of study. Students can earn the Certificate in German Studies and learn the language up to the B1 level, all while fulfilling their general electives or B-Hum requirements.
The language classes are small, engaging, and interactive, with an average of just 20 students. They focus on today’s Germany – its culture, ideas, and society. Many students say these courses were their favourite at SFU, that they were inspired to learn more, and that they came away with a new appreciation for German culture and language.
Beyond the classroom, students can take part in exchanges with universities in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, join Co-op work placements in Germany, or even spend time teaching in German schools through the PAD program (see information below).
If you know a young person at SFU who might want to strengthen their connection to German language and culture, please share this opportunity with them!
