On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the Aris Quartett will give its first Vancouver concert at the Vancouver Playhouse.

Founded in Frankfurt in 2009 and mentored by Gunter Pichler of the Alban Berg Quartet, the ensemble has been performing on international stages for more than a decade. Known for its distinctive sound, the Aris Quartett has earned recognition as one of the world’s top-ranked chamber music ensembles.

The Vancouver program will feature Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 1 in E-flat Major, Opus 12, György Ligeti’s String Quartet No. 1 “Metamorphose Nocturnes”, and Beethoven’s String Quartet in F Major, Opus 59 No. 1 “Razumovsky”—highlighting first quartets by Mendelssohn and Ligeti, as well as the first of Beethoven’s “Middle Quartets.”

This performance marks the launch of the 78th season of Friends of Chamber Music, an organization that brings celebrated international chamber music ensembles to Vancouver. Audiences will have the opportunity to hear the same musicians who perform at prestigious venues such as New York’s Lincoln Center and London’s Wigmore Hall, all in the heart of Vancouver. Each concert offers a blend of familiar melodies and innovative works, providing listeners with both enjoyment and inspiration.
