The Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre will be hosting two special programs this October:
Book Talk – They Never Left Me: A Holocaust Memoir of Triumph and Maternal Courage
On Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Schara Tzedeck Synagogue’s Wosk Auditorium, authors Evelyn Kahn and Hodie Kahn will present their new book They Never Left Me. The memoir recounts Evelyn’s survival and the bravery of her mother and grandmother, who hid in the forests of Belarus during the Holocaust.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Robert Krell, with a book signing and light reception to follow. This program is co-sponsored by Ronsdale Press and Schara Tzedeck Synagogue.

Writing Workshop for Descendants of Holocaust Survivors
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the VHEC Education Room (JCC, 950 W 41st Avenue, Vancouver), the Centre will host a writing workshop for descendants of Holocaust survivors.
Facilitated by Dr. Abby Wener Herlin, this program is part of the VHEC’s Generations After initiative and provides a supportive space for participants to reflect on and express their personal stories through writing.
