Handel’s Messiah: A Celebration of Music and Community
This December, Early Music Vancouver (EMV) joins forces with the Pacific Baroque Orchestra (PBO) and the Vancouver Chamber Choir (VCC) to present Handel’s Messiah — a timeless masterpiece that continues to inspire audiences around the world.
Under the direction of Alexander Weimann, the performances in Richmond (December 12) and Vancouver (December 13) will feature soloists Myriam Leblanc, Cecilia Duarte, Jacob Perry, and Sumner Thompson, who will bring new vitality to Handel’s work.
Since its premiere in 1741, Messiah has embodied a spirit of generosity and hope — first performed as a charitable concert for debt relief and medical aid. More than two centuries later, this legacy of compassion endures, reminding us that great music not only uplifts but also unites communities in shared reflection and joy.

Tafelmusik’s Brilliant Baroque: A Dazzling Return to the West Coast
Following acclaimed performances across South Korea and Toronto, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and its principal guest director Rachel Podger bring their celebrated program Brilliant Baroque to Western Canada this November
Jointly curated by Podger and Tafelmusik, the program features works by Bach, Handel, Telemann, Avison, and Lully. The ensemble is known for its finely balanced sound and the sense of unity that characterizes its performances. Critics have praised both Podger’s artistry and the orchestra’s ability to engage audiences through clarity, precision, and warmth.
The tour includes concerts in Victoria (November 14), Vancouver (November 15), Nanaimo (November 17), and Kelowna (November 19), offering audiences across British Columbia the opportunity to experience one of Canada’s leading baroque ensembles.
