On April 21, 2026, the Goethe-Institut invites audiences to a virtual edition of its “Meet the Author” series, featuring cultural scholar Annekathrin Kohout. In her recent book Hyperreactive, Kohout examines the dynamics of contemporary internet culture, from the pressure to constantly respond online to the rise of memes as a form of communication and expression.

Blending analytical insight with personal reflection, she explores how digital interactions shape new social dynamics and power structures that extend far beyond the online sphere.

The event will include a conversation with Ilva Skulte, Associate Professor at Rīga Stradiņš University, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. The discussion will be held in German and takes place online.
