On August 25 at 12:00 p.m. (PDT), the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre (VHEC) will host an online discussion with journalist, Financial Times columnist and author Simon Kuper on the intersection of Holocaust history, football and social identity.

In conversation with Dr. Sebastian Huebel, Professor at the University of the Fraser Valley, Kuper will draw on his acclaimed works, including Ajax, The Dutch, The War: Football in Europe During the Second World War (2003) and World Cup Fever: A Footballing Journey in Nine Tournaments (2026), to explore the role of football and sport in shaping historical and contemporary societies.

The event is presented by the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre in partnership with the Montreal Holocaust Museum.
