It’s the summer of 1990. The Berlin Wall has fallen, German reunification is around the corner – and millions of East German marks are about to become worthless.
A comedy about money, friendship and the last days of East Germany.
The film also brings together a veritable Who’s Who of German acting talent: Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall, The Zone of Interest), Max Riemelt (Sense8), Ronald Zehrfeld, Peter Kurth and Uwe Preuss. Seeing all these familiar faces in such a playful, funny film – with plenty of mischief and a twinkle in the eye – is a real treat.
The screening is co-sponsored by the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence in Critical Infrastructure Studies, the Centre for European Studies, the UBC Film Society and the German Consulate General Vancouver, as part of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Germany.
