United Voices Choir: Händel’s Coronation Anthems

Rejoice!, © United Voices Choir
United Voices Choir presents a joyful and uplifting Spring concert featuring Georg Friedrich Händel’s magnificent Coronation Anthems – including the famous Zadok the Priest, which some may know as the Champions League theme music – and the thrilling Dixit Dominus. Under the direction of Dr. Greg Caisley, this 65-voice choir will be joined by professional soloists and orchestra.
Commissioned for the coronation of King George II and Queen Caroline of Great Britain in 1727, the Coronation Anthems are joyous, extroverted works full of bold contrasts, showing off Händel’s flair for writing glorious music for big occasions.
Dixit Dominus (The Lord Said) is a brilliant tour-de-force composed by the German-born Händel in 1707 when he was just 22 years old. Full of drama, virtuosity and driving energy, the work is an exhilarating experience for performers and audiences alike.
