Germany offers something special for every taste and age, whether you’re looking for cultural heritage, natural wonders, or family-friendly attractions.
One such highlight is Leipzig Zoo, which hosts its Magical Tropic Lights Festival from January 9 to February 9, 2025.
The event showcases the illuminated tropical wonderland of Gondwanaland, featuring sparkling pathways, boat rides through a rainforest aglow with lights, live music, and discovery stations under a starlit sky.
Founded in 1878, Leipzig Zoo is home to around 850 species across six immersive worlds, including Asia, Pongoland, and Africa. Its visionary “Zoo of the Future” projects have earned international acclaim, blending innovation with conservation.
Leipzig Zoo is just one example of the many unique experiences Germany has to offer, making it a fantastic destination for travelers of all interests.

In “Gondwanaland”, the largest tropical hall in Europe, at Leipzig Zoo, you can enjoy a boat trip on the man-made primeval river “Gamanil” through the tropical adventure world. The 16,500 square meter hall, named after Gondwana, the primeval continent in the southern hemisphere, is home to around 300 animals of 40 species and 17,000 tropical plants.
