Due to the ongoing strike at Canada Post, there may be delays in the shipping of passports. To ensure a fast return of your passport, the following options are available:

New Applications for a German Passport or Visa:

If you submit your German Passport or Visa application in the coming days, you can choose from the following options for the return of your passport:

• Submit an Expresspost envelope from Canada Post (passport will be shipped after the strike)

• Submit pre-paid envelopes/waybills from Purolator, FedEx (passport will be shipped after receipt or visa decision)

• Personal pickup at the German Consulate Toronto

Already Applied for German Passports:

If you applied for your passport in a regular processing time more than 12 weeks ago or in an express processing time more than 6 weeks ago here, the following options are available:

Consulate General Toronto, Embassy Ottawa, Consular days Montreal, Honorary Consulates Winnipeg and Halifax:

• Waybill from Purolator or FedEx in PDF format: Once we have confirmed the receipt of your passport, you may send us a PDF return label. Please contact us beforehand, providing your name and date of birth to Canada Post Strike - Consulate General Toronto

• Personal pickup or pickup by an authorized representative (Authorization Form) please send us a email at least a 1-day prior to Canada Post Strike - Consulate General Toronto

Pickup hours at the Consulate General Toronto:

Monday to Friday: 09:00 - 11:30 AM

Monday and Thursday: 2:00 - 3:30 PM

German passports for individuals residing in/near Ottawa and Montreal can arrange a pick up at the Embassy in Ottawa or the Consulate General in Montreal. You will be contacted from us as soon as your passport is ready for personal pickup!

Consulate General Vancouver, Honorary Consulates Calgary, Edmonton, and Saskatoon:

Waybill from Purolator, FedEx or UPS in PDF format: Please send it to us with your name and date of birth to Consulate Vancouver

Personal pickup or pickup by authorized representative (information about the PoA in that case can be found in the pickup notification), without appointment Monday to Friday: 09:00 am-12:00 pm

Visa Applications:

You will be contacted by the visa team via email after your visa application has been processed.
