Holders of a Canadian Travel Document for Refugees (1951 United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, blue cover) do not require a visa for transit and/or short-term stay (e.g. for tourism or business purposes) in Germany, provided that the duration of their stay does not exceed 90 days within any 180 day period.

Taking up any employment or pursue any gainful economic activity in Germany is not permitted unless such employment is explicitly authorised by a visa or a residence permit issued by the local immigration office (Ausländerbehörde) in Germany.

The travel document must be valid for at least 4 months counting from the date of entering Germany.

Please be advised that this regulation applies to Germany only. Other Schengen member states may not recognize Canadian travel documents or different visa requirements may apply. You are strongly advised to verify individual entry requirements with other Schengen member states you are travelling to.

It is, therefore, recommended to book a direct flight to Germany without transiting through other Schengen countries. If you do transit through other Schengen countries, you have to apply for a visa at the Consulate at the specific country.

Third-country nationals holding Canadian travel documents travelling to Germany are subject to all Schengen entry requirements. The entry requirements are contained in the Schengen Borders Code. You need to be able to justify the purpose and conditions of your intended stay, and you need to have sufficient means of subsistence, both for the duration of the intended stay and for your return to your country of origin or transit to a third country into which you are certain to be admitted, or you must be in a position to acquire such means lawfully.

Please note that as, by Schengen law, it is Border Police Authorities to make the last decision on entry into Schengen territory.
