Renowned art historians from Europe, the US and Canada came together for a two-day conference at the Victoria College in the University of Toronto.

Topic of the conference was “Rulers on Display: Tombs and Epitaphs of Princes and the Well-Born in Northern Europe 1470–1670”. The Centre for Reformation & Renaissance Studies invited the experts to discuss how sixteenth and seventeenth century princes and the nobility used tomb sculptures to refashion their identity and promote their interests.

Consul General Thomas E. Schultze invited the participants for a reception the night before the conference into his residency for a lively exchange and discussion. Great to see intercontinental scholarly exchange on such a high level!
