The German economy lacks specialists, and demographic change will only accelerate the shortage. Currently, approximately 1.2 million jobs are vacant. This new law is therefore intended to allow access to the German labour market for skilled workers from countries outside the EU.
The Skilled Immigration Act (“Fachkräfteeinwanderungsgesetz”), which will come into effect on March 1, 2020, expands the possibilities for qualified professionals to come to work in Germany and facilitates immigration of skilled personnel to Germany.
