New funding for German universities

DAAD helping address Germany's skilled-labour shortage

Beginning this month, DAAD's new “Campus Initiative for International Talents” program will support more than one hundred universities across Germany in their work to help international students succeed in their studies and, for those interested in doing so, make a smooth transition to the German labour market.

“Germany is one of the top 3 destination countries for international students and doctoral candidates. At the same time, the shortage of skilled labour in our country is reaching dramatic proportions. It therefore makes sense to attract international talent to Germany for a longer-term stay after they have successfully completed their studies. German universities want to be a driving force in attracting international skilled workers,” said DAAD President Prof. Dr Joybrato Mukherjee.
