The principle of funding is to strengthen and disseminate German as a foreign language in Canada in a partnership approach. Project funding can therefore only be considered as a supplementary or initial measure, e.g. through offers of professional and methodological training, networking offers, the creation of incentives (scholarships, competitions, projects) and targeted promotion of German as a foreign language in Canada. Support of German as a foreign language in Canada is conceived for the long term and must therefore prioritize sustainability. As well, the project has to be executed at an appropriate professional level of quality. This includes the participation of experts chosen from the field.

Applications are accepted from departments and faculties of (secondary) schools, colleges and universities and from associations and organizations working to promote the German language in Canada. Applications must be sent to the German Embassy in Ottawa until September 30. The applications will then be forwarded to the Permanent Working Group, Netzwerk Deutsch for discussion and first evaluation. The final decision on the total amount of funding will be made by the German Federal Foreign Office. Applicants will be informed about the decision in spring.

The following institutions provide assistance in the planning of projects:

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

Goethe-Institut

German language advisers (ZfA)
